The Monk is a hero encountered in Dungeon Keeper, Dungeon Keeper 2, and Dungeon Keeper Online. They are somewhat tougher than the other hero spellcasters, and are also decent workers.
Description (Dungeon Keeper)[]
"The monk is a good fighter who can heal himself and heroes around him when they take hits in battle." |
— Dungeon Keeper Manual |
The Monk is a defensive fighter and spellcasting hero. Monks gain many ranged spells as they level up, but favor closing in for hand-to-hand combat. They obtain the Heal and Armour spells very early on in their advancement. Monks can be dangerous in groups and pose a threat to the Keepers' Imps, but stand no chance against real melee fighters.
Unlike the other hero spellcasters, Monks lack the Rebound spell. However, they will still best Warlocks in combat thanks to their Drain and Slow spells, as well as their Armour spell, which further bolsters their already superior Defence stat.
Converted Monks will do all jobs. They are decent researchers and manufacturers.

Notes[]
- Contrary to the documentation, the Monk does not heal allies. There is no such ability in Dungeon Keeper.

Description (Dungeon Keeper 2)[]
They do double damage to undead creatures and can annihilate your Vampires.
These guys are good, really good. Their Pray ability allows them to heal all the surrounding creatures, and their haste and cast armour create the perfect support creature. They can also kill Vampires and stop them resurrecting against you again. One of the better creatures the goodly heroes have to offer in terms of conversion, especially considering their high mana generation rate when praying and their dirt-cheap wages.
In Dungeon Keeper 2, the Monk uses his fists to fight.
The Monk is weaker in terms of health than a Guard, but can be annoying (and useful, if converted) since they are much more durable than Warlocks and can heal allies in a fight. Always try to convert them if you can afford the wage, they have as much health as a Vampire and more useful spells at lower levels, but do less raw damage.
Trivia[]
- The Monk has the ability to kill a Vampire permanently regardless of its level, so long as the Monk deals the killing blow.
The Mentor's Thoughts[]
"The Monk that has joined you will be useful in defending your other minions in combat. He also has the ability to strike down the Vampire with terminal force." — The Mentor, Pet Dungeon Mode (DK2) |
