Cave-In is an area-of-effect Keeper spell which causes rocks to fall, damaging nearby creatures and causing them to flee. It can be cast on any open area and only affects creatures, but can be useful to divert enemy creatures away and buy yourself time. This spell can usually do enough damage to enemy Imps to kill them, so can be useful for keeping them away.

In Dungeon Keeper 2, the damaging effect of this spell is combined with Destroy Walls' wall-weakening ability to make the Tremor spell.

The casting animation for Cave-In

This spell can be used to abuse the fleeing properties of certain enemies, as they will always return to their flee point (their Lair, a Hero Gate, or their owner's Dungeon Heart, depending on the owner and circumstances), so if the player has a large supply of gold, they can keep a creature trapped in place and slowly kill them with numerous castings. Note also that creatures killed by this spell do not leave corpses. If a Vampire is killed by this spell, it will not resurrect. In Dungeon Keeper FX, Hero Gates are less exploitable, as retreating hero parties can take temporary refuge inside it.

Originally, this spell would turn exposed path back into Earth (evidence still exists of this in the column and slab data, with earth slabs of varying height), but this was changed (likely due to exploitability). Creatures would move out of the way before they were trapped (which would possibly kill them), and this behaviour is left over in the fleeing property in the final spell.[Citation needed]
